Hi, my name is Mimi Guesnon and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is committed to helping clients who are struggling with daily life events or decreasing your anxiety or depression in a relaxed and safe environment. I can work with individuals, couples who are dealing with struggles in their marriage, and help parents with a family crisis or children who are having a difficult time.
My specialty includes working with children and adolescents from the age of 6-14 in a behavior school-based environment for over 18 years. I have worked with Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, ADHD, Autism, and General Anxiety Disorder. Many of the students have had home life struggles and dealing with various forms of abuse. PTSD, depression, and OCD type behaviors were common and affected their daily routine and home life. Working with children is my passion and helping to create a safe environment for them. Individual as well as family therapy can help heal and keep families stable.
I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology from National University and a Bachelor’s Degree from San Jose State University. I have extensive training in Child Abuse and dealing with difficult behaviors in children. I am trained in CPI Nonviolent crisis intervention training and had various other trainings dealing with behaviors such as PRO-ACT and PART.
I have worked with the LGBTQ population in Orange County dealing with specific challenges in the LGBTQ community and ran several groups with specific needs such as difficulty coming out to family and friends, and support to deal with life challenge.
Whatever your need or challenge may be, I look forward to helping you strive to be your best self.
