Hello, my name is Titus Ogbuafor and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. I have been in the Mental Health services for over 11 years. I have worked with a variety of populations in different settings which prepared me to be receptive to clients’ way of being, and collaborate with clients to unveil the barriers that impede their abilities to live a happier and healthier life.

Having worked with variety of populations and in different settings, I have had the opportunity to address several mental health issues, emotional, behavioral and relational concerns such as  depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting issues, personality disorders, and more. My professional training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,  Motivational Interviewing, Solutions Focused Therapy, DBT, System, and Person-Centered Therapy.

For myself, therapy has always been about discovering how can I provide relationship knowledge clients may use for their own personal growth. I believe for a therapist to be able to develop some meaningful relationships with clients, a therapist must be self-aware—the ability to know your own mind and how it works, and learn how to tame it for a happier and healthier life not only for yourself but for your clients as well. Empathy is another quality that makes an awesome therapist—the ability to borrow  your clients’ lens and see how they see their world, and accept them with dignity and respect. To be a good therapist is an ongoing process. Despite being difficult at times, therapy allows for human connection and growth, and advancement of one’s understanding within relationships. Using a client centered approach allows me to collaboratively work together with clients in a journey that leads to self-discovering and the development of individualized strategic treatment plans that address each client’s needs. I am a collective therapist—meaning I have many modalities in my tool box and each modality used is determined by each client’s concerns with the aim to effectively create consistency, structure, and some predictability in life.
